Multi-arm PEG derivatives can be cross-linked in a variety of ways to make hydrogels. These hydrogels have a variety of applications and are especially of interest for controlled release of drugs and for wound coverings.
Multi-arm PEGs are prepared by ethyoxylation of pentaerythritol (4arm), hexaglycerol (8arm), or tripentaerythritol (8arm, TP). The number of ethylene oxide unites may not be the same in all arms. The total molecular weight of the multi-arm PEG is a combination of the molecular weights of all the arms.
JenKem Technology provides a series of high quality multi-arm PEG derivatives, in both research grade and cGMP grade.
