Dermcidin is a natural antibacterial peptide secreted by the sweat glands of the human body and is transported to the skin surface by sweat. Dermcidin is produced by enzymatic hydrolysis, which maintains bactericidal activity under high salt and pH values between 5.5 and 7.4, and can kill E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis and Candida albicans. DCD-1L (human) is a peptide composed of 48 amino acids.
