Product Description
LL-37 is a multifunctional antimicrobial peptide, which has the potential to be developed into a drug with dual functions of antibacterial and immunity enhancing. LL-37 is the only member of the cathelicidin family, which has been found in human body so far. It is also the only amphiphilic α - helix antibacterial peptide in human body. LL-37 is widely distributed in human blood cells and epithelial cells, and has broad-spectrum antibacterial effect. The antibacterial activity depends on the formation of its spiral conformation, and kills bacteria through the "carpet like" mechanism. LL-37 has the function of neutralizing endotoxin, binding with LPS and CD14, neutralizing the biological activity of LPS, and using formyl peptide receptor like 1 (FPRL1) as receptor-mediated chemotaxis, recruiting immune cells to the infected site and clearing the pathogens. Many infectious diseases are related to low expression or dysfunction of LL-37.
