N-benzyl isopropylamine can be used as an intermediate in compound synthesis and as a precursor in the production of certain drugs. Due to its similarity in appearance and physical properties to methamphetamine, it has been included in the scope of consideration of the DEA in recent years. N-benzyl isopropylamine forms amine adducts with magnesium at room temperature in toluene. Bis(cyclopentadienyl) magnesium was prepared and characterized using N-benzyl isopropylamine as ligand. It is also used in the synthesis of N-benzyl isopropylamine.
