Chloroplatinic acid, inorganic compound, usually with six crystalline waters, molecular formula: H2PtCI6·6H2O, reddish-brown or orange-red crystal. Extremely hygroscopic. Soluble in water, but soluble in alcohol, ether and acetone. Mainly used for preparing precious metal catalysts and precious metal coating; Precipitation of potassium, gallium, ammonium, cesium and thallium to separate from sodium; Precipitated alkaloids; Electroplating; Manufacturing platinum asbestos etc. Used in analytical chemistry to examine potassium and ammonium plasma. Active component of hydrodehydrogenation catalyst in petrochemical industry.
