Singapore has received its first batch of Pfizer's oral COVID-19 treatment Paxlovid, after authorities last week said they had approved the tablet for COVID-19 in adults at risk for severe disease, reported CNA.
"This is the first oral antiviral medicine approved for treatment of COVID-19 infection in Singapore," noted said health minister Ong Ye Kung.
Paxlovid cut the risk of COVID-19-related hospitalisations or death by 88.9% when given within three days of symptom onset, according to a Health Sciences Authority (HSA) review of clinical data based on an ongoing Pfizer study.
