Cuba's Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices granted emergency approval to the Soberana 2 vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19, as reported in National Post.

Approval means the vaccine, which is comprised of two initial shots and a booster, can be included in the national immunisation programme.
The Soberana 2 vaccine is said to have an efficacy rate of 91.2% and has already been used in Cuba to vaccinate some health workers and ordinary citizens in areas with high rates of transmission.
